Can I use 2 pieces of the 2mg gum or lozenges?

Only use 1 piece of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) gum or lozenge at a time. Use the gum or lozenge as directed, every 1-2 hours, or spread out on a schedule to stay ahead of your urges. The maximum daily dose is 12.

The 4mg gum or lozenge is recommended for those who smoke, vape, or use smokeless tobacco within 30 minutes of waking, and the 2mg is recommended for those who smoke, vape, or chew 31 minutes or more after waking.

If you feel that you need a high dose of nicotine, make sure that you are keeping to a schedule that allows you to stay ahead of your urges. You can also consider adding a patch, which is a long-acting type of NRT, along with a gum or lozenge, which are short-acting types of NRT.

What if the lozenges don’t dissolve within 30 minutes?

You should always use the lozenge as directed. It should dissolve within 20-30 minutes. To use the lozenge:

1. Place it in your mouth and allow it to slowly dissolve.
2. Do not chew, crush, or swallow lozenges.
3. Once in a while, use your tongue to move the lozenge from one side of your mouth to the other.
4. If it takes a little longer than 30 minutes to dissolve, wait an hour before your next dose.
